Sultan Hassan mosque

The Mosque was built during Mamluke’s period in Egypt, 14th Century AD. It was divided into three sections – Theological School, Prayer Hall, and Mausoleum where his sons were buried. It is considered to be one of the most majestic monuments of Isalmic architecture. Mosque of Refa’iBuilt by the mother of Khedive Ismail, grandson of Mohammed Ali Pasha, it was ended by the abdication of King Farouk in 1952. The design of the Mosque is in the Ottoman style of architecture. The Mosque is the burial place of members of the last Royal Dynasty of Egypt. The Citadel and Mosque of Mohammed Ali The citadel was built by Saladin for the defense of Cairo. After its completion in 1171 AD it became a Royal residence for the ruler of Egypt. Within the walls of the Citadel is the Mosque of Mohammed Ali Pasha, a model of the Blue Mosque in Turkey. It      is also known as the Alabaster Mosque from the alabaster covering of the internal and external walls. construction of the Mosque started in 1830, and was completed in 1857.
